Ripley Apple Project
You will find a variety of apple trees along the Ripley Rail Trail, which runs past the Bruce Botanical Food Gardens. These trees grew from seeds in apple cores thrown from the windows of trains that used to pass through the village. The community's favourite apple was chosen in the fall of 2013 and named the Ripley Apple. The Bruce Botanical Food Gardens will be grafting the Ripley Apple tree so more of these apples will be available. To learn more about this project, click on the link below to listen to an interview with CBC Ontario Morning. The interview starts at approximately 44:52.
The Bruce Botanical Food Gardens is looking for anyone who enjoys digging in the dirt to volunteer their time developing and beautifying the gardens.
