Huron Fringe Field Naturalists

We are a diverse group who enjoy experiencing and learning about the natural world. Meetings are held the 4th Tuesday monthly, September to November; February to June, at the Pine River United Church, corner of Highway 21 and the 4th Concession of Huron-Kinloss Township. The program includes social time at 7:30 pm followed at 8:00 pm by discussion of outings and events and a guest speaker. The club offers a full schedule of outdoor events, in every season, including various walks and hikes, winter and migratory bird watches, canoe/kayak cruise, tours of area orchards, gardens, farms and a yearly exploration of the Bruce Peninsula. The club newsletter, Fringe Notes, highlights past events and future outings. Produced three times per year; fall, winter and spring, it is circulated electronically to members. Huron Township History Book

Lucknow Scribblers

"The Lucknow Scribblers" writers group in Lucknow took their name from the Gaelic scríbhneoir (Irish), or the Scottish sgrìobhadair, meaning writer to honour the area's Gaelic roots. The group meets every Tuesday evening from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at the Lucknow Library. This group brings together writers from different walks of life to discuss their works and give creative feedback, encouragement, support and in the process become better writers. The Lucknow Scribblers are in the process of building a writing community that inspires many different genres of writing. They are reaching out to students, aspiring “scribblers” - young or old, experienced or even those that have forgotten which end of the pencil to use to come and be a part of a fun and supportive group. Point Clark Lighthouse

Major renovations were completed in the spring of 2015 and the Lighthouse re-opened to the public in June 2015. The Lighthouse is open from Late June to Labour Day, 10:00am to 5:00pm daily. Purple Grove Community Centre

A one-room schoolhouse that became a Community Centre in the 1960s when the schools were centralized in Ripley. As well as holding community events, it is available for rent for private functions for $75. The hall holds up to 80 people.
