Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) Site Selection Process
Huron-Kinloss moves to Step 3 in the Site Selection Process
On Monday November 19th, 2012 Huron-Kinloss Council approved a resolution to move to Step 3 in the Site Selection Process of Canada's plan for the long-term management of used nuclear fuel. Huron-Kinloss Council wants to continue to learn more and provide learning opportunities to the residents of Huron-Kinloss. Step 3 in the process involves a feasibility study that is designed to assess, in a preliminary way, the suitability of a community and associated site(s) to host the project. These studies are an opportunity for both the community and the NWMO to explore a number of questions that will be important in assessing the suitability of communities for this project. More information on the Site Selection Process can be assessed at the NWMO website below or by calling the NWMO at 647.259.3012.
