NWMO CEO Laurie Swami visits Ripley-Huron Community School

Students from Ripley-Huron Community School were recently buzzing around with new programmable robots.

The school was able to purchase a computer programming toy known as "Bee-Bots" for their Kindergarten class, that allows students to tell a story on a grid using the Bees. Programing the Bee-Bots to follow simple commands allowed the children to learn the first stages of early computing and programming.

The Bee-Bots were funded through the Early Investments in Education and Skills Program offered by the Township of Huron-Kinloss and the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO).

Recently, Laurie Swami, President and CEO of the NWMO, made a stop at Ripley-Huron Community School to join in on a Bee-Bot demonstration with the kindergarten class.

For more information on the Early Investment in Education and Skills program please contact the Township of Huron-Kinloss office at 519-395-3735
