Source Water Protection
Source Water Protection Pans are a resource planning process that endevours to keep the sources of drinking water safe and usable. The Clean Water Act, 2006 required all watersheds to develop Source Protection Plans. The Township of Huron-Kinloss has two watersheds within its borders: Saugeen, Grey Sauble, Northern Bruce Peninsula Source Protection Region and the Ausable, Bayfield, Maitland Valley Source Protection Region.
The Drinking Water Source Protection Committee for the Saugeen, Grey Sauble, Northern Bruce Peninsula Region has prepared the Updated Proposed Source Protection Plan and the Revised Assessment Reports for each of the three areas. These plans will include policies to reduce the risk of contamination and overuse to local drinking water sources. To view the plan and reports please go to their website at www.waterprotection.ca. Public Notice for the consultation on the updated plan and revised assessments is found on the right hand side of this page.
The Ausable Bayfield Maitland Valley Drinking Water Source Protection Committee has had their plans and updated assessment reports approved by the Province of Ontario on January 19th, 2015.
