Development Charges

The Township of Huron-Kinloss is updating its Development Charges (DC) By-law as required by legislation.

What are Development Charges?

Development charges are a tool for municipalities to recover the capital costs of infrastructure and services that support growth. Development charges ensure that new growth contributes its fair share, alleviating the burden on existing taxpayers.

Development Charges Updates

The updated study recalculates charges based on current population and growth forecasts, while incorporating recent legislative changes, such as the eligibility of growth-related studies for funding and the removal of the phase-in requirement for increased charges.
