Ripley Summer Sports Committee

The Ripley Summer Sports Committee is recruiting new members to join our team! Without our wonderful volunteers, Ripley Summer Sports wouldn't be able to offer the fantastic baseball and soccer programs we have. Ripley Summer Sports Committee meets about once a month and coordinates both Ripley Minor Baseball and Ripley Minor Soccer programs as well as hosting the WOBA U9 Year End Tournament and the fun-filled Baseball Day in Ripley.

If you are interested in joining the Ripley Summer Sports Committee, please contact recreation@huronkinloss.com or call 519-395-2909. You can also approach a current Committee member.

Ripley Minor Soccer Divisions

BlastBall introduces the basic fundamentals of baseball (hitting, throwing, catching, running and fielding) to kids aged 3-4 years old in a fun and understanding environment. Small groups of players rotate through stations that use balls, bats and other fun equipment to develop hand/eye coordination. We also play a very simple game where players hit off a tee and get to run the bases. There are no complex rules and no umpires – just fun! Blastball is held once per week on Monday evenings in a 45 minute time slot.

What is needed?

Dress your player for the weather, bring water (we have a fountain if you forget or want to refill) and shoes they can run in. All equipment is supplied. We use soft balls, soft bats and honking bases. Gloves and helmets are not used at this level. Please do not bring your own equipment – keep that for playing at home.

Extra coaching/organizing help is always appreciated. No baseball experience is not necessary as it is mostly providing leadership where needed to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

The season starts May 26.

The key objectives are each player to establish a basic understanding of the game and to get as many touches on ball as possible - all through incorporating the element of FUN!
