Announcing the Huron-Kinloss Parks and Trails Plan: We Need Your Input!

The Township of Huron-Kinloss, in partnership with pl.ural, is excited to announce the development of a comprehensive Parks and Trails Plan. Huron-Kinloss parks and trails are essential spaces where families, friends, and neighbours come together to enjoy the outdoors, exercise, explore nature, and relax. We are committed to making these parks and trails even better, and your input is crucial to this process.

What are We Focused On?

Huron-Kinloss and pl.ural aim to:

  • Improve Accessibility: Ensure our parks and trails are open and welcoming to all.
  • Enhance Playability: Create engaging and fun environments for users of all ages.
  • Meet the Needs of All Demographics: Develop spaces that cater to everyone in our community.
  • Revitalize Parks, Trails, and Amenities: Explore options to add new amenities such as pickleball courts, dog parks, and expanded trails.

The Township currently maintains 18 parks and 8 trails through day-to-day operations and capital planning. This plan will take a closer look at the current state of our parks and trails, who uses them, and what those users want. The final plan will include an actionable list of recommendations, timelines, and costs that we can implement over the next capital plan cycle (approximately 10 years).

How Can You Get Involved?

Your input is essential to the success of this initiative. We are hosting an Community Open Houses over the summer and fall throughout the Township for residents to meet with the project team. An online survey will be available to share your thoughts and ideas. This is your chance to directly influence how our parks and trails will look and feel in the future.
