Canada Post Strike - Alternative Property Tax Payment Options Available

In light of the ongoing Canada Post strike, residents of the Township of Huron-Kinloss are reminded that they are still required to pay their property taxes by the due date of Monday, December 2nd, 2024. To ensure timely payments and avoid interest charges, residents are encouraged to utilize alternative payment options.

The following methods are available to submit property tax payments:

1. In-Person Payments: Visit the Township of Huron-Kinloss Municipal Office at 21 Queen St., Ripley, Ontario. Payments can be made directly at the counter, or cheques can be deposited in the After Hours Drop-Box located at this address. Please note, the drop box accepts cheques only. Please note we do not accept credit card payments for property taxes. You may also pay your property taxes by visiting your financial institution and providing your roll number. 
2. Online and Telephone Banking: Payments can be made through your financial institution's online or telephone banking services. Add "The Corporation of the Township of Huron-Kinloss" as a payee to make property tax payments. Please allow sufficient processing time to ensure payments are received by the due date.
3. Pre-Authorized Payments: Sign up for pre-authorized payment plans, either on the due date or monthly, to ensure your payments are made automatically. Register online using the Pre-Authorized Payment Application Form.
4. Post-Dated Cheques: Cheques dated for the due date can be submitted in advance at the Municipal Office.

Residents are reminded that taxes not paid by December 2nd will incur an interest charge of 1.25% per month. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt property owners from the responsibility of payment or applicable penalty charges for late payments.

To avoid disruptions in receiving future tax bills, residents can also sign up for Property Tax E-Billing via the Tax E-Billing Sign Up Form.
