Council Highlights August 14th, 2023

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Council Planning meeting was held at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at 21 Queen Street in Ripley.

Lucknow Kinsmen Zoning By-Law Amendment

The Lucknow Kinsmen applied to amend the special zoning on the subject property. If approved, the proposed amendment would facilitate the construction of a club house and storage building on the subject property.

Township of Huron-Kinloss Council received comments from the public at the public meeting and deferred a decision for Zoning By-law Amendment application by Lucknow Kinsmen to allow time to address the comments received from the Township and neighboring property owners.  

Gaunt-Laidlaw Municipal Drain

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Council appointed K. Smart & Associates Limited to prepare a Report following a request for Improvement under Section 78 of the Drainage Act signed by landowners located within the watershed of the Gaunt-Laidlaw Municipal Drain. The Engineer presented the report and the required public meeting with landowners was held.

Council voted to refer the report back to the Engineer.

Pavement Preservation

Council received a Staff report recommending to accept the quote from Walker Construction Ltd. in the amount of $735,073.50 plus HST for application of Bonded Wearing Course on Concession 4 and Concession 8.

Report PW-2022-02-14 was brought forward during the 2022 Budget Meeting, regarding a proposal to apply a preventative treatment on some paved roads that are still in relatively good condition but are nearing their end of their useful life.

Township staff reviewed a selection of roads that would benefit from a preventive maintenance project. Currently, staff are working on a multi-year plan which will ensure appropriate road selection and timing of application.

Upcoming Meetings

The next Township of Huron-Kinloss Council meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21^st, 2023. The meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, 21 Queen Street in Ripley.
