The agenda contained several items including:

Lucknow Kinsmen Event Proposal

The Lucknow Kinsmen attended the Committee of the Whole meeting to present on their proposal to host an additional event in Lucknow at the Graceland site.

Rates & Fees

Three staff reports were brought forward to amend the Rates and Fees By-Law (2022-15) for 2023 due to rising costs:

The Ripley Summer Sports Committee is recommending an increase to the 2023 Summer Sports Registration fees, the Director of Community Services recommends Cemetery Columbarium Plaque Fees increase, and the Building and Planning department along with the B.M. Ross recommends a Planning Review Fees Increase from $175.00 per application to $200.00 per application.

Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) Funding 2023

NWMO has been providing funding and will continue to provide funding to the Township of Huron-Kinloss as we are considered to be a Primary Significant Neighbouring Community.

The Township of Huron-Kinloss will be receiving $55,000 for the Early Investment in Education and Skills Program that supports education and skills training for Huron-Kinloss residents, and funding for youth learning initiatives focusing on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Additionally, the Township will be receiving $89,788 to support The Hub.

Opening of Angus Road

As parcels within the Ripley Industrial Park are being sold for development, Staff are recommending that the road now be opened and named to permit travel on the roadway and allow for continued acquisition of lands by interested parties.

An outline of the proposed roadway within the Ripley Industrial Park shows the development will include a portion of Angus Street (already designated as roadway) and will include Part 6 and Part 9 on plan 3R10651 as a roadway.
