Council Highlights February 6th, 2024

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Committee of the Whole and Council meetings were held in Council Chambers at 21 Queen Street in Ripley beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The highlights from both meetings include:

Committee of the Whole

Integrated Master Plan

The Manager of Strategic Initiatives presented a report introducing the Blueprint for our Future Integrated Master Plan (IMP). It is a living document that will be updated as actions are completed, and as new priorities arise. The detailed plan of action is a roadmap to follow to embrace our new vision to become a unified, engaged and caring community that cultivates opportunities and embraces its rural lifestyle.

The IMP is organized by Strategic Priority Area. Each Strategic Priority Area is broken down into a goal and its objective. View the Integrated Master Plan on our Plans and Studies webpage.

Year In Review

Each year, Council is presented with a Year in Review report that highlights the Township’s accomplishments from the previous year. The 2023 report highlighted several successful projects and initiatives, including the Bell Bridge and Lucknow elevated water tower projects, the Women in Construction program, Point Clark Lighthouse and Museum Revitalization project, and so much more. Take a minute to reflect on the progress we’ve made!

Pine River Watershed Initiative Network

Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN) Chairperson addressed Council with a presentation which reviewed 2023 projects and programming, and a request for support to the organization. The request for funding to ensure the future success of the PRWIN will be considered in the 2024 budget deliberations on February 16th.

Westario Power Shareholder Update

Westario Power presented Council with their quarterly presentation which includes statistics on their operations, finances, revenues, expenses and more.

Crimson Oak Driveways

The Zoning By-Law amendment application to legally recognize the constructed driveways and allow them to be replaced at the existing width was approved by Council, facilitating increased driveway widths and parking on the subject lands.

Upcoming Meetings

The next Township of Huron-Kinloss Council meeting is the Budget meeting, scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on February 16th, 2024. This daytime meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, 21 Queen Street in Ripley.
