Council Highlights June 19th, 2023

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Council meeting was held in Council Chambers at 21 Queen Street in Ripley at 7:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include:

Strategic Plan 2023-2033: Blueprint for Our Future

A delegation to Council, Deloitte, presented their Strategic Plan 2023-2033: Blueprint for Our Future. Staff received seven proposals for the Strategic Planning process and through a Steering Committee decided to work with Deloitte for the new Plan. The Manager of Strategic Initiatives prepared a report to Council outlining their decision.

The goal of the creation of a new Strategic Plan for the Township of Huron-Kinloss plan is to provide a roadmap for the next 10 years and can be reviewed in each term of Council. It will guide the responsible use of resources, effectiveness and efficiency in municipal service delivery and accountability​. There will be community information and engagement sessions to work towards a set of prioritized goals and objectives that can be measured and monitored. These sessions will be available on our engagement website, Have Your Say HK, in the coming months.

FC-94 Model Pumper Truck for the Lucknow District Fire Department

Council approved the purchase of the proposed FC-94 Model Pumper Truck for the Lucknow District Fire Department as recommended by the Lucknow and District Fire Board (By-Law No. 2023-74). $300,000.00 of the cost will be funded by the Near-Term Investment funding and the remaining funds allocated from the Fire Equipment Reserve fund.

Range Model Pumper Truck for the Ripley-Huron Fire Department

BY-LAW No. 2023 – 72 to accept a quote for the purchase of a Range Model Pumper Truck for the Ripley-Huron Fire Department was carried. Near-Term Investment Funding in the amount of $550,000 will be used to purchase the Pumper Truck, with the remaining funds allocated from the Fire Equipment Reserve as outlined in Report Fire 2023-06-25.

Upcoming Meetings

The next Township of Huron-Kinloss Committee of the Whole meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 3^rd, 2023. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, 21 Queen Street in Ripley.
