Council Highlights March 10th, 2025

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Council Planning meeting was held in Council Chambers at 21 Queen Street in Ripley at 7:00 p.m. Highlights from the meeting include:

Council Approves Zoning By-law Amendment for Residential Lot Creation

Council approved a zoning by-law amendment to facilitate the creation of a new residential lot at 196 Bruce Road 86 in Whitechurch. The amendment allows for reduced lot frontage and area for both the severed and retained lands. The severed lot, which contains an existing home and accessory building, will remain residential, while the retained lands will continue to be used for agriculture.

A holding provision will apply to areas of high archaeological potential and to ensure an approved site plan for agricultural access. The new lot will also require an advanced tertiary septic system, with inspections managed through the Township’s septic inspection program. The related consent application will be considered by Bruce County at a later date.

Council Approves Development Agreement for Boiler Beach Road Property

Council approved a development agreement with JMKD Holdings Ltd. for a property at 126 Boiler Beach Road, following a previously approved zoning amendment and severance application. The agreement ensures compliance with conditions set by Bruce County, including the requirement for a tertiary sewage system on both the severed and retained lands. The agreement will be registered on title to remain in effect with the property.

Council also delegated future approval and signing authority for development agreements related to consent applications to the Mayor and Clerk.

The next Township of Huron-Kinloss Council meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on March 17^th, 2025. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, 21 Queen Street in Ripley.
