Council Highlights March 20th, 2023

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Council meeting was held in Council Chambers at 21 Queen Street in Ripley at 7:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include:

2023 Budget Adopted

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Council approved the 2023 Budget on March 20^th, 2023. 

The result is an increase of 4.73% to the municipal tax rate. For more details on the budget, please review the 2023 Budget Information Release.

Community Well-Being Grant Program

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Council adopted the Community Well-Being Program for 2023-2024 and approved the Program Guidelines for criteria and eligibility. This program will provide funding for projects and services that will have a positive impact on the community, ran by local organizations within the Township. The funds will be distributed through an open, fair, and accountable process that ensures the best benefit to the community.

The funding will be directed toward five specific streams:

• Arts, Culture & Heritage
• Sports & Recreation
• Social & Health
• Environmental
• Other (projects outside these streams that contribute to community well-being)

Council Awards Tender for the Bell Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Council has awarded the tender for the rehabilitation of Structure H38, "Bell Bridge", on Lake Range Drive between Concession 4 and Bell Drive to AJN Builders Inc. The rehabilitation of the bridge will require a complete closure of all lanes for 12 weeks. Construction is scheduled to begin on May 1st, 2023.

Upcoming Meetings

The next Township of Huron-Kinloss Committee of the Whole meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on April 3^rd, 2023. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, 21 Queen Street in Ripley.
