Council Highlights May 8th, 2023

A Bruce County Planner attended with a minor variance application to be reviewed at the Committee of Adjustment meeting. At the Council meeting, a second report about an Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-Law Amendment was presented to be considered by Council.

Minor Variance

The purpose of this application is for a minor variance to permit a reduced frontage of +/- 17 metres from the 30 metre requirement. The minor variance will facilitate the creation and sale of a half acre parcel for light industrial use. The property is located within the Ripley Industrial Park.

The Committee of Adjustment supported this request.

Zoning By-Law Amendment

The application asked to change the designation on the subject lands and change the Zoning from Residential to Light Industrial. If approved, it will facilitate the development of the lands for a Municipal Industrial Park.

Council supported the request for Amendment and staff has been directed to prepare the by-law for the May 15^th Council meeting.

Clark Creek Municipal Drain

Council received a staff report recommending awarding the tender for the construction of Clark Creek drainage works to the lowest bidder, Elliot Construction. The By-Law for the tender for drainage will be considered at the Council meeting on May 15^th, 2023. 

In December 2021, Council approved the Clark Creek Municipal Drain 2021 report that addressed the concerns of the DFO, the municipality and landowners by proposing a realignment of 275m of the channel, constructing several riffle structures consisting of riffle stones, riprap and vegetated riprap, and the construction of a riprapped laneway crossing with 92m of new laneway. Upcoming Meetings

The next Township of Huron-Kinloss Council meeting will begin after the Court of Revision completes on May 15^th, 2023. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, 21 Queen Street in Ripley.
