Council Highlights November 6th, 2023

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Committee of the Whole meeting was held in Council Chambers at 21 Queen Street in Ripley at 7:00 p.m. Highlights from the meeting include:

Council Appoints New CAO

At a Special Meeting of Council, a by-law to appoint Jodi MacArthur as Chief Administrative Officer of the Township of Huron-Kinloss effective April 1^st, 2024, was adopted. See more details in the full Press Release on our website.

2024 Council Schedule

Council adopted the 2024 regular schedule of Council meetings and conference dates. The proposed Council meeting schedule can be found in the November 6^th COW Agenda.  

RZone and Volunteer Policies

RZone Policy – Respect and Responsibility

Staff have developed the RZone Policy to support the safety and well-being of staff and the public with the goal of promoting a positive and safe environment in Township-owned facilities. The policy sets clear guidelines for staff, volunteers, user groups, and the public on how to handle inappropriate behavior or violence in these facilities. This policy will also include written and verbal communications with the Township. It emphasizes the importance of respectful relationships and outlines consequences for policy violations. Overall, it's meant to ensure everyone feels supported and safe in Township properties.

Volunteer Policy

The Volunteer Policy specifies the different roles and responsibilities of both the Township and volunteers in municipal activities, covering a range of social, recreational, cultural, and emergency-related tasks. The policy outlines roles, responsibilities, and addresses liability and insurance for informed volunteer participation.

Committee of the Whole supported enacting the policies and authorized by-laws to come forward for their adoption.

Enhanced By-Law Services

Staff presented a concluding report on the By-law Enforcement Services Pilot Summer Program. The report discusses the outcomes of the summer enforcement pilot program. Council recommended that Staff incorporate enhanced by-law services into the budget discussions for the upcoming year.

Upcoming Meetings

The next Township of Huron-Kinloss Council meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20^th, 2023. The Council Planning meeting scheduled for November 13th has been canceled. The meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, 21 Queen Street in Ripley.
