Council Highlights October 16th, 2023

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Council meeting was held in Council Chambers at 21 Queen Street in Ripley at 7:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include:

Van Diepenbeek Municipal Drain

Township of Huron-Kinloss Council has accepted the Van Diepenbeek Municipal Drain Report dated September 15, 2023, prepared by Headway Engineering and provisionally passed the By-Law. A Court of Revision date to address this drain has been set and affected landowners will be provided notice as required. 

2022 Audited Financial Statements

Council approved the 2022 Audited Financial Statements prepared by the Township’s auditor Seebach & Company. Staff have outlined a summary of the key performance indicators below, to simplify the financial statements and provide an overall snapshot of the Township’s financial health.

The audited financial statements and the resulting analysis demonstrate fiscal accountability to both the Province and the public and confirm that the Township remains in a strong financial position.

Hiring of Fire Chief

Council passed a By-Law to appoint Shane Watson as Fire Chief of the Township of Huron-Kinloss. Shane will join the Huron-Kinloss staff on October 30th, 2023.

“Shane brings 10 years’ experience in the fire service as a volunteer firefighter and has spent the previous 5 years as a Fire Prevention Officer and Community Emergency Management Coordinator in the municipal sector. Overall, Shane brings the experience, education and professionalism that make him an asset for our fire and emergency services,” said Mayor Murray. Welcome, Shane!

Upcoming Meetings

The next Township of Huron-Kinloss Committee of the Whole meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6th, 2023. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, 21 Queen Street in Ripley.
