Council Highlights October 17th, 2022
The Township of Huron-Kinloss Council Meeting was held in Council Chambers at 21 Queen Street in Ripley at 7 in the evening.
The agenda included several items including:
Engagement Framework and Toolkit
A staff report as well as the Huron-Kinloss Engagement Strategy Action Plan was presented by the Manager of Strategic Initiatives and Redbrick Communications. Council approved adopting the Engagement Framework, Toolkit and Roll-out Plan by Redbrick Communications as part of the Township’s continued efforts to improve and enhance community engagement and demonstrate its commitment to effective communication.
Indigenous Relationship Building Workshop
A staff report was presented in regard to the Indigenous Relationship Building Workshop that will be attended by Township Staff on Thursday, November 3rd from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
The Municipal Innovation Council has retained Trish Meekins from Nikaanaganaa Counselling & Learning Centre in Owen Sound to lead participants through a 3-hour workshop that will provide a foundation to strengthen the relationship between elected officials and municipal staff in Bruce County. The goal of this training is to enhance self-awareness and strengthen the skills and knowledge needed to promote positive and productive relationships with Indigenous people in Bruce County so we can be part of the healing and learning to support reconciliation with Indigenous friends, neighbours, and communities.
The workshop in Ripley is on November 3rd, 2022. All Township staff are registered for this workshop, which will result in the Municipal Office at 21 Queen Street in Ripley being closed from 1:00-4:00pm on Thursday, November 3rd. Winter Sand Tender
Council signed a By-Law accepting the tender of Johnson Brothers (Bothwell) Ltd in the amount of $43,300.00 plus HST for the supply and hauling of winter sand for the 2022-2023 winter season, and f $44,800 plus HST for the supply and hauling of winter sand for the 2023-2024 winter season.

The next Township of Huron-Kinloss Council meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7th, 2022. This will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, 21 Queen Street in Ripley.
