Council Highlights September 18th, 2023

The Township of Huron-Kinloss Council meeting was held in Council Chambers at 21 Queen Street in Ripley at 7:00 p.m.

Highlights from the meeting include:

Street Sweeper Purchase

Council accepted the quotation from Cubex Limited in the amount of $424,731.50 plus HST for the purchase of a Scarab Maven 65 demo street sweeper with delivery set for July 2024. The NWMO is contributing $375,000 through the NTI program for this purchase.

Rates and Fees By-Law Amended

Council approved the proposed changes to the Rates and Fees By-Law which were recommended by Staff to address gaps in the current fee structure. The Manager of Building Services/Chief Building Official explained the proposed changes to the building fees in the Staff report from August.

Strategic Plan Community Workshops

The goal of the creation of a new Strategic Plan for the Township of Huron-Kinloss plan is to provide a roadmap for the next 10 years and can be reviewed in each term of Council. It will guide the responsible use of resources, effectiveness and efficiency in municipal service delivery, and accountability​.

Our last in-person community workshops are this week. All Huron-Kinloss residents are welcome to attend the community workshops! The workshops are led by the Deloitte Team and are interactive in nature.

Upcoming Meetings

The next Township of Huron-Kinloss Committee of the Whole meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2^nd, 2023. This meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Municipal Office, 21 Queen Street in Ripley.
