Marriage Commissioner Opening

The Township of Huron-Kinloss is recruiting one (1) Marriage Commissioner. The role of a Marriage Commissioner is to perform civil (non-religious) marriage ceremonies in accordance with the Marriage Act and ensure the dignity and solemnity of the occasion is maintained. 

The Marriage Commissioner accurately completes legal documents and provides customer service excellence by offering flexible ceremony options to accommodate a couple’s wishes for their wedding ceremony.

The successful applicant will have:

• Ability to be thorough and accurate when completing legal documents.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including a strong aptitude for dealing with sensitive situations.
• Solid understanding of the Marriage Act and Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act principles.

Interested individuals should send a Letter of Interest that includes a summary of skills and experiences with the reasons for wishing to serve as a Marriage Commissioner, including a summary of their current knowledge of the Marriage Act.
