HURON-KINLOSS, ON: The Township of Huron-Kinloss, in partnership with pl.ural, is excited to announce the development of a comprehensive Parks and Trails Plan. This initiative aims to enhance the quality and accessibility of Huron-Kinloss parks and trails, which are vital spaces for families, friends, and neighbours to enjoy the outdoors, exercise, explore nature, and relax.

Building on the input, findings, and recommendations of the Township’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan (2022), the Parks and Trails Plan will help guide long-term use, the potential rearrangement of existing amenities, development of new park infrastructure, and capital planning for 18 key park sites across the Township. This includes exploring options for new amenities such as pickleball courts, dog parks, and expanded trails.

The Township currently maintains 18 parks and 8 trails through day-to-day operations and capital planning. The Plan will take a closer look at the current state of parks and trails, who uses them, and what those users want. The final Plan will include an actionable list of recommendations, timelines, and costs that can be implemented over the next capital plan cycle, approximately 10 years.

“We are eager to hear from our residents,” says Mike Fair, Director of Community Services. “Our parks and trails are integral to the quality of life in Huron-Kinloss. We need the community’s input to ensure these spaces meet everyone’s needs and expectations. Your feedback will be essential in shaping the future of our parks and trails.”

The Township is opening an online survey on July 15th, along with community open houses throughout the Township where residents can share thoughts and ideas, giving them a chance to have a direct impact on how the parks and trails will look and feel in the future. For more information about engagement opportunities, open house dates, and to follow along with updates, please visit www.haveyoursayhk.ca.

Community participation is essential for the success of this project. All residents are encouraged to share their input in the coming months and play a vital role in shaping the future of Huron-Kinloss parks and trails. Every voice matters—let's build vibrant, inclusive outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy that reflect the spirit and needs of Huron-Kinloss.
