Township of Huron-Kinloss Upgrades to New Scarab Maven 65 Street Sweeper Supported by NWMO Investment

HURON-KINLOSS, ON: The Township of Huron-Kinloss is pleased to announce a significant upgrade in our street cleaning capabilities with the acquisition of a Scarab Maven 65 Street Sweeper. Made possible by contributions from the Near-Term Investment fund in partnership with the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), this purchase represents a strategic investment in enhancing our community's cleanliness and maintenance.

Following the breakdown of our previous street sweeper, a 1995 Johnston mechanical model, Township Staff conducted a thorough investigation into the most suitable replacement options. After careful consideration of the advantages and disadvantages of mechanical sweepers compared to vacuum street sweepers, the decision was made to invest in the Scarab Maven 65.

“One of the main factors influencing this decision was the versatility offered by the Scarab Maven 65 vacuum sweeper. While mechanical sweepers are typically limited to specific cleaning tasks and seasonal use, the Maven 65's innovative design includes a vacuum hose and pressure washer wand. This multifunctional capability enables our Staff to perform a wide range of additional tasks, including cleaning catch basins, water valve boxes, and excavating small holes,” explained John Yungblut, Director of Public Works.

“We're really pleased to be able to support the Township of Huron-Kinloss in meeting priorities that are important to the community," says Michael Pahor, NWMO Site Director, South Bruce. "All NWMO community investments are intended to support municipal priorities, including community facilities and services."

The acquisition of the Scarab Maven 65 Street Sweeper illustrates the Township’s commitment to providing efficient and comprehensive street cleaning services to residents. The Township is grateful for the support and partnership of the Near-Term Investment fund and the NWMO in making this important investment possible.
