Water and Wastewater Master Plan

The Township of Huron-Kinloss is growing and we need to plan for growth, and water and wastewater infrastructure over the next 25 years along the Lakeshore, and in Lucknow and Ripley. We invite you to work with the Township to provide input on infrastructure and growth in these areas.

The purpose of the Growth and Servicing Master Plan is to:

  1. Examine future residential and non-residential growth in and around Lucknow, Ripley and the Lakeshore; and,
  2. Identify water and wastewater infrastructure needs to support future growth. The Master Plan is focused on these areas because Provincial and County policies direct residential growth to locations with municipal water and sewer services. In the case of the Lakeshore, this area is being looked at as growth is expected to continue there as a result of demand.

Through the Master Plan process, future residential and non-residential growth will be forecasted for the next 25-years. Following the forecasting of growth, we will identify areas where growth could go. Once these areas have been identified, we will look at options for how water and sewage services could be provided. This will include looking at how practical the servicing options are, what other upgrades may be needed, potential impacts, timing, and costs. This will help us decide where it makes sense to put future growth and what steps need to be taken next.

The Master Plan will be a tool for current and future municipal staff and Council to use when making decisions regarding land uses, planning for infrastructure upgrades, and budgeting. It will be a blueprint for where future growth in Ripley, Lucknow and the Lakeshore should go and how municipal water and wastewater service may be provided.
